  • Youthful chef Bernhard Mairinger asked us to partner up with him to open his first restaurant as chef/owner. We settled on a quaint location in Beverly Hills where we set out to refresh an existing restaurant location. Operating on a very tight budget, we reclaimed quite a bit from the existing restaurant and the building, which has very good bones. The goal was to provide a space which is crisp and bright which speaks to the sophisticated Austrian culture and balance it with a slight sense of rustic which echoes the cuisine that would be served.
We brought back to life the existing walnut wood trim and tables, which had been stained to look like mahogany, added accents of hickory wood and created a new bar and back bar out of walnut. The new, walnut Stammtisch (a communal table with seating for up to 10) is the anchor of the dining room which has a floating bench with a tufted upholstered seat back against the wall. The chairs and stools express the marriage of rustic and traditional materials through a very elegant and modern design.
A custom made art piece floats above the bar highlighting the various regions of Austria.
