Pleasure Med

Pleasure Med

Pleasure Med, a cannabis-focused complex located on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California, is a haven for indulgence with strong ties to its sister store, Pleasure Chest. The completely remodeled building includes three distinct areas: a ground floor retail, second-floor partaking lounges, and an outdoor bar and restaurant. The design of the retail and lounge areas in particular is inspired by the “faded glory” of Havana, Cuba, layering time-worn finishes with tropical opulence to evoke abundance and ease. A glass surrounded stairwell leads to the second-floor lounge that feels like a rambling colonial home replete with forgotten rooms to explore and a courtyard-like space with views of the Hollywood hills.

The main lounge is the darkest and most sophisticated room in the building.   An oasis of green with rich parquet floors, brass-banded marble tables tops and walls lined with a plush, emerald-colored banquette with channel tufting and turned walnut legs.   Like a living room cluttered with collectibles, the walls are adorned with geometric sconces in a metallic gold finish, mirrors, painted molding and staghorn ferns.

The private dining room offers seating for 16 at inlayed walnut tables and rich green leather chairs.  Overhead, lavish chandeliers of cut glass in a floral motif play against ornately patterned wallpaper of pink and deep scarlet.

The diminutive outdoor seating area for the bar/restaurant lies beneath a light-filtering trellis that is cradled between the kitchen and main building.  The materiality of the outdoor furniture combines white oak with cement tile table tops with a mint-based tropical pattern, and polished stone tops at the bar and high table within a relaxed, plant-infused environment.
